MEET SHEILAH

COOKBOOK AUTHOR, FOOD HISTORIAN,
CULINARY LECTURER


A popular lecturer and expert of chocolate, Turkish and Mediterranean cooking, and Jewish culinary history and traditions, Sheilah has been a guest speaker at The Library of Congress and was selected to be one of five culinary lecturers at their International Book Festival, Epcot's Food and Wine Festival, the Textile Museum, the Smithsonian Institution, the Metropolitan Cooking & Entertaining Show, Capital Speakers, Les Dames d'Escoffier, Brandeis, Culinary Historians of Washington, the Turkish Embassy, Oasis, and diplomatic groups. In addition, she is a popular lecturer for Jewish organizations including Jewish Federation, Hadassah, and synagogues.

Sheilah has been a frequent guest on television and radio programs across the nation. In addition to consulting, Sheilah has developed recipes and served as a national spokesperson for a number of international companies

FOOD COLUMNIST AND EDITOR

Sheilah is the food editor of Maryland’s The Town Courier, and a freelance writer and contributing food editor to the Jewish Food Experience and numerous magazines and papers, including Vegetarian Times, Eating Well, and The Washington Post.  
She was the Fancy Food and Gourmet Editor for Gift and Dec Magazine for over 20 years, and developed recipes for Beatrice Foods, Dickinson/Smucker's, Sunsweet, Gourmet Delight, and Walden Farms.


CULINARY EDITOR AND COACH

Sheilah is a partner with Paula Jacobson in Cookbook Construction Crew, a company dedicated to mentoring cookbook authors and food writers. Sheilah and Paula edit the recipes and text, test the recipes, proofread, index the recipes and text, help find publishers and agents, and develop strategies to market the books and articles.
